AWF sends official statement to International Weightlifting Federation regarding burning of Azerbaijani flag

The Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation addressed an official statement to the European Weightlifting Federation and the International Weightlifting Federation regarding the burning of the Azerbaijani flag at the opening ceremony of the European Championship held in Yerevan, Armenia, Kanan Mastaliyev, a Spokesperson for the Federation, said in an exclusive statement to Report.

The official of the federation, who is currently in Yerevan, said that the management expressed its position regarding the incident:

"We have expressed our views directly to the president of the International Weightlifting Federation and at the same time to the European Weightlifting Federation, and we have strongly protested. We asked them to react and make a decision. We believe that this incident shows that Armenia is unable to hold international sports competitions and ensure the safety of athletes."
