Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation to be reorganized

The President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation (AAAF) Jahangir Askerov has signed an order to reorganize the organization, Report informs, citing the organization.

According to the order, head coach Asif Mammadov and secretary-general Rizvan Rasulov were dismissed from their positions in the Federation.

The decision on reorganizing was made due to the poor performance of the Federation's officials. Despite management's warnings to improve the situation, employees continued to be negligent in their work.

The irresponsible attitude of the Federation's staff and disregard for anti-doping rules by our athletes led to heavy fines by the International Weightlifting Federation.

Only recently, the International and European Weightlifting Federations have registered six cases of doping in Azerbaijani weightlifters.

"The steps and the measures taken did not lead to a positive result and improve the situation. In this regard, I decided to reorganize the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation completely. I hope that these changes will help us achieve better results in the future," said Jahangir Asgarov.

According to him, a new head coach and secretary-general of the Federation will be appointed by September.
