Azerbaijan to compete in African championship instead of European Championship in Armenia - EXCLUSIVE

Azerbaijani weightlifters will participate in the African championship.

According to Report, the athletes will test their strength in the continental championship in Tunisia on May 11-20.

As the Azerbaijani national team could not participate in the European Championship in Armenia, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) sent a proposal to the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation (AWF) as an alternative. The management of AWF responded positively to the proposal.

AWF's press service confirmed the information in response to Report's inquiry. Athletes who could not participate in the European Championship in Yerevan will travel to Tunisia. The African Championship will be a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. That is, the athletes' points will be considered license points for the Olympics.
