Azerbaijani weightlifter: "I will try to achieve even greater results in future"

"I will try to achieve even better results in the future," Azerbaijani weightlifter Ali Shukurlu, who successfully performed at the European Championships held in the Polish city of Raszyn, told journalists, Report informs.

"I want to thank everyone who contributed to my victory, including the leadership of the Weightlifting Federation. We had a long training camp. At the European Championships, I won two bronze and one silver medal," said the athlete.

Shukurlu won a silver medal by lifting 173 kg in the snatch event. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 201 kg and won a bronze medal. In total, Shukurlu also made it to the top three, lifting a total weight of 374 kg (173+201) and taking third place.

The Azerbaijan weightlifting team won a total of 12 medals at the European Junior and U23 Championships, held from October 26 to November 3.

These include two gold, four silver, and six bronze medals. The gold medals were won by weightlifters Ravin Almammadov and Omar Javadov.
