Five Azerbaijani athletes will start competing in the Tokyo-2020 Summer Olympic Games.
According to Report, female wrestler Maria Stadnik, freestyle wrestlers Haji Aliyev, Sharif Sharifov, and karate fighter Rafael Agayev who are among the candidates for a medal will test their strength on the next day of the competition. Rhythmic gymnast Zohra Agamirova will also try to show her abilities.
Stadnik, who competes in the 50-kilogram class, and Sharifov in the 97-kilogram class will face Russia's Stalvira Orshush and Abdulrashid Sadullayev, respectively.
Aliyev, 65 kg, will face Senegal's Adama Diatta. Both three athletes will start participation from the 1/8 finals.
In Group B, Rafael Agayev will face Luigi Busa of Italy, Noah Bitsch of Germany, Tsuneari Yahiro of Australia, and Nurkanat Ajiqanov (Kazakhstan). The winners of the first two places will make their way to the semifinal and secure bronze.
Rhythmic gymnast Zohra Agamirova, who competes in the individual program, will perform with a ball, hoop, ribbon, and clubs.
