Azerbaijan sharply increases methanol production in January

In January 2022, Azerbaijan produced 50,000 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol).

Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee, that this is 500 times more than in the same month in 2021.

As of February 1, this year, the finished product output amounted to 23.4 tons.

The volume of methanol production in Azerbaijan amounted to 0.1 tons in January 2021.

Methanol production is carried out at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Garadagh district.

The methanol plant was commissioned in 2013. The plant has been operating under SOCAR Methanol LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, since 2016, and in August 2017 became the property of the company. The plant has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol per year. Natural gas and saltwater are used as raw materials in production.
