Huawei aims to double smartphone shipments to 70M next year

Huawei has been stockpiling components for months as it aims to double its smartphone sales next year despite expectations of a further US crackdown, Report informs, citing foreign media.

Industry executives have revealed that Huawei aims to ship between 60 million and 70 million phones in 2024, a significant increase compared to this year and last.

To meet this ambitious goal, the company has been actively building up its inventory of lenses, cameras, printed circuit boards, and other crucial parts throughout the year.

Multiple supply chain managers and analysts have confirmed Huawei’s efforts to amass lenses, circuit boards, and various components as it sets its sights on selling 60-70 million smartphone units next year, as reported by The Nikkei.

In light of potential export bans, Huawei has reportedly requested that its supplier, Qualcomm (QCOM.US), expedite the delivery of its entire year’s orders by June.

This move is seen as a precautionary measure to ensure the availability of key components in case of further restrictions imposed by the United States.

Recent reports have also emerged regarding Huawei’s flagship phone, the Mate 60 Pro, allegedly utilizing a 7-nanometer chip. Additionally, Huawei is said to have partnered with SMIC (00981.HK) to develop 7-nanometer and 14-nanometer processing technologies at its Shanghai facility. These collaborations demonstrate Huawei’s commitment to advancing its technological capabilities and optimizing the performance of its future smartphone models.
