Japanese people live longer than other nations because fish and seafood, as well as plants, predominate in their daily diet, and sugary drinks are almost non-existent, said Shoichiro Tsugane, director of the Center for Public Health Sciences at the National Cancer Research Center of Japan.
According to him, each of these products significantly reduces the risk of contracting many serious illnesses.
He also noted that fermented beans lessen the risk of cancer and prevent cardiovascular disease.
