The delegation led by Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif saw with her own eyes the consequences of the urbicide in Aghdam city and got acquainted with the restoration work being carried out there, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation, which are part of the Karabakh economic region, told journalists, Report informs.
He said that it was interesting for UN-HABITAT to get acquainted with the current situation in the liberated territories and with the reconstruction work carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the field of urban planning.
“We explained the Azerbaijani government’s approach to the restoration process, and also exchanged views on issues in which these organizations can benefit from the experience of Azerbaijan. I hope that this visit will be useful for them,” Huseynov said.
Maimunah Mohd Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan. During the three-day visit, she will hold a number of meetings with the country’s officials, and on March 4, the delegation led by her visited the Aghdam district.
