Tensions have been observed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border for several days, Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner Sabina Aliyeva said, Report informs.
"There are casualties among Azerbaijani service members as a result of shelling by Armenian armed forces. We are concerned about the attempts of the Armenian armed forces to aggravate the tensions and about the human injuries," Sabina Aliyeva said.
"The fact that Armenia ignores the ceasefire regime on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and uses large-caliber guns prove that this country does not only shows the lack of respect to the peacekeeping process but also seriously hinders this process. Threats to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the framework of the internationally recognized borders are inadmissible. Though we regularly refer to the requirements of international law and appeals for respect to human rights, the Armenian side demonstrates disrespect towards the provisions for peace and co-existence in the region. We once again invite the Armenian side to put efforts to protect people's lives and health, ensure peaceful co-existence and we call on the international community to make necessary appeals in this regard," she added.
