Expert: Illegal armed formations in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh - source of serious threat

Illegal armed formations still remain in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, and they are a source of serious threat, military expert Adalat Verdiyev said, Report informs.

He noted that despite the negotiations on a peace treaty underway in Washington with the support of the US, illegal armed groups located in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan resorted to another provocation and fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

“As a result, one serviceman was injured. As a result of retaliatory measures of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, five members of the illegal armed group were eliminated. The purpose of this provocation was to undermine the negotiation process on a peace treaty in Washington. The existence of these illegal armed groups on the territory of Azerbaijan is unacceptable,” he added.
