Former president of Latvia: Restoration of communications to contribute to prosperity growth in region

The restoration of communications in the region will serve to increase the income and prosperity of the countries of the South Caucasus, former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers told Report on the sidelines of VIII Global Baku Forum.

“When the railways and highways connect the countries of the South Caucasus, as well as open the way for Armenia to the outside world, the situation will change very quickly. When people see the benefits of cooperation, including in trade, it leads to an increase in income and wealth, which also changes the relationship between countries. It is important to speed up the process of restoring communications for the benefit of the region,” Zatlers said.
