Head of organization: ‘We are trying to convey the truth about Armenia's mine terrorism to the world’

Azerbaijan is among the top ten countries in the world due to mine contamination, Hafiz Safikhanov, Director of the Azerbaijan Campaign to ban Landmines, told Report.

He also spoke about the goals of his organization: “When I talk to landmine victims and listen to them express their pain, I am heartbroken. We always take measures to inform the world community about this problem that Azerbaijan is facing. Our main goal is to convey the real truth about the dangers of this invisible enemy and the victims of that threat to the world community. During our work, it became known that the territories of Azerbaijan are more contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance.

Thus, during the research conducted within the project of the international organization, it was found that Azerbaijan is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of land mine contamination. This information is included in the 2020 report. If we include the liberated territories here, Azerbaijan may be on the higher ranks, perhaps in the top five.”
