Korotchenko: Armenians left scorched earth behind

Nazi criminals are being heroized in Armenia, as evidenced by the monument mounted in Yerevan to Garegin Nzhdeh, who was not executed during the Soviet era for his actions only because the death penalty had been abolished by that time, a military expert, editor-in-chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona magazine, Igor Korotchenko, told a round table at the Russian Information and Cultural Center (RICC) in Baku, Report informs.

"It is no coincidence that after the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, Armenians left scorched lands instead of once existing towns there. All these atrocities of Armenia in these territories are also associated with the Nazi movements," Korotchenko said, adding that, unfortunately, these facts are not condemned by the international community.

Korotchenko also stressed Azerbaijan’s contribution to the victory in WWII, adding that there would have been no victory without Azerbaijani oil.

"Azerbaijan was the key factor in the victory of the USSR in the WWII."

Answering a question about the interaction between Russia and Turkey, Korotchenko noted that in general, relations between the countries are developing very well, though there are contradictions on some issues. In general, Turkey is an important partner for Russia and the country welcomes Turkey's purchase of its weapons.

In response to the same question, Russian expert, director of the Center for Political Research Sergei Markov noted that the countries are very actively cooperating in the issues of Karabakh.

He also opined that Turkey's membership in NATO does not prevent it from developing relations with Russia.
