OIC expresses concern over destruction of Islamic historical shrines by Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expresses deep concern over the state of historical monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas, which are an integral part of the Islamic heritage.

Report says the statement issued by the ECO reads:

"The deliberate destruction and looting of material and moral values, especially the mosque in the recently liberated Mamar village of the Gubadli region, the embezzling and falsification of history are clear evidence of the policy of aggression. The abuse of centuries-old religious and cultural heritage in the occupied territories is a clear violation of international law and conventions, including the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and the 1954 and 1999 Protocols. At the 46th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the OIC adopted Resolution 3/46-S on the "Protection of Islamic holy sites." The decision condemned the Armenian aggressors' barbaric actions to destroy the historical and cultural heritage of Islam in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
