Polad Bulbuloglu: Armenia refuses to provide maps of mined areas

"I am convinced that first of all, it is necessary to stop the senseless killing of civilians, which continues till today. You probably know that during the second Karabakh war, more than 100 civilians were killed during the bombing, and residential areas in the cities of Ganja, Barda, Tartar, Naftalan, and others were destroyed. However, the most terrible thing is that even after the end of the war, people continue to die, being blown up by mines that sow our lands."

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu told in an interview with the Russian "Nezavisimaya Gazeta."

"According to the most optimistic forecasts of experts, the complete clearance of the liberated lands may take from 10 to 15 years and will require significant material investments, even though the Azerbaijani side uses the most modern equipment, protecting its sappers as much as possible.

"Russian peacekeepers also help us in this dangerous task, one of them was also recently hit by a mine, and several others were injured. Turkish specialists are also involved in this work. But at the same time, the Armenian side categorically refuses to provide maps of the minefields."
