The Armenian diaspora abroad is the main factor in the country’s rejection of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, famous Italian-French photojournalist Reza Deghati told Report.
“They [the Armenian diaspora abroad] do not know how hard life is for people in Armenia and what the loss of thousands of soldiers and family members means,” Deghati said, stressing that the Armenian diaspora must understand that pushing the country towards war is not a solution, because Armenia lost the second Karabakh war and will only lose more without peace with Azerbaijan.
He noted that while Armenia has never worked to establish peace with Azerbaijan, from the very beginning the latter has always sought a peaceful solution to the Karabakh conflict through negotiations: “Everyone knows that Azerbaijan tried to do everything possible to reach a peace agreement.”
“I hope that the trilateral meeting in Sochi on November 26 will lead Armenia to a reasonable acceptance of the peace treaty,” he concluded.
