The European Union has the potential to become a new platform for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia against the backdrop of the collapse of the OSCE Minsk Group, US political scientist and expert in international relations Peter Tase told Report.
“The OSCE Minsk Group of Co-Chairs must be dismantled and it is time for Turkey and European Council to encompass a highly integrated framework to assure that a peaceful solution of disagreements has been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he noted.
He added that the European Council, as an institution has instruments that can highly influence the regional stability and economic integration in Southern Caucasus.
Azerbaijan has an economic potential, human capital and environmental policies that bring the country extremely close to the vision embodied by European Council, Tase said. “As we are experiencing a turbulent European continent, it becomes imperative for the European Council to establish a bondage with Baku.”
“The trilateral meeting in Brussels is a unique event that brought forward the pressing challenges of Azerbaijan and unveiled once again the violations of International Law and genocide that Armenia has conducted against the innocent civilians and environment of Azerbaijan,” he added.
On April 6, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met in Brussels with President of the European Council Charles Michel and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
