The tragic loss of civilian lives in the territory of Azerbaijan, Tartar, Fuzuli, and Khodjavand districts is the consequence of land mines implanted by Armenia during the thirty years of invasion of the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, US political scientist and expert in international relations Peter Tase told Report.
“The government of Azerbaijan has pursued an efficient public policy that encompasses diplomatic tactics, investment of large human resources, allocation of large monetary amounts and has increased global awareness about the dangers and threat that exists inside the recently liberated lands of the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan,” he noted.
“However, Brussels has not focused on pressuring Armenia to share detailed maps that pinpoint the installation of land mines and explosives inside the territory of Azerbaijan that was liberated by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in September-November, 2020. Key EU member countries refrain from pressuring the government of Armenia to be cooperative in this important regional security issue.”
On September 30, as a result of the explosion of an anti-tank mine in the unmined part of Yukhari Dilagarda village in the Fuzuli district, two people were killed and one was injured.
On October 1, two people were seriously injured when an anti-personnel mine detonated in the Tartar district.
On October 2, as a result of the explosion of an anti-personnel mine in the territory of Tagaverd village of Khojavand district, 1 person was injured.
