Zakharova: Russia stands for earliest possible organization of UNESCO mission to region

“The topic of preserving cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent districts is regularly discussed in our contacts with Baku and Yerevan. In particular, it was touched upon during the working visit of Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov to Armenia and Azerbaijan in the first half of May,” Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a weekly briefing, the Russian bureau of Report informs.

Zakharova noted that the Russian side is in favor of the earliest possible organization of a UNESCO mission to the region.

She stressed that work is being carried out along the line of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, reminding that the statement adopted by the Co-Chairs on April 13 this year stipulates the preservation and protection of religious and cultural heritage.
