Azerbaijani newspaper Kaspiy, founded in the late 19th century, has been presented to readers in a renewed format.
Report informs that from now on, the newspaper will be published in two languages - Azerbaijan and Russia - in a fully renewed format.
The newspaper will be colored, have a modern design that meets the current realities.
The current founder of the newspapers - Kaspi and Каспiй - is Global Media Group.
Kaspiy has been published since 1881. In 1897, when famous Azerbaijani philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev bought the newspaper, prominent publicist and political figure Alimardan bey Topchibashi became its editor-in-chief.
Outstanding representatives of Azerbaijani intellectuals - Hasan bey Zardabi, Mammadaga Shakhtakhtinsky, Ahmad bey Agayev, Ali bey Huseynzade, Jeyhun Hajibayli, Nariman Narimanov have collaborated with the newspaper. Over 300 issues of the newspaper had been published under Zardabi's signature before 1907.
In 1918, during the bloodshed committed by Armenian Dashnaks in Baku, the publishing house of the Kaspiy newspaper located at Nikolayevskaya street (present-day Istiglaliyyat) in the place of the current Sabir late was burned down, after which its publication was halted.
In 1919, the Kaspiy newspaper stopped publishing. Over 10,000 editions were sold in 38 years.
Eighty years later, in 1999, the Kaspiy newspaper resumed publishing.
