Hikmat Hajiyev: Digitalization accelerated production, dissemination of information

Digitalization has accelerated the production and dissemination of information, but it has also contributed to information pollution.

According to a Report correspondent from Shusha city, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev made the remark at the Second Global Media Forum.

He noted that disinformation allows the news to be manipulated.

Hajiyev also noted the need to expand cooperation in the fight against disinformation.

“We must act somehow, hold discussions at the UN level, or other institutions can help us with this,” said the presidential aide.

He added that perhaps the time has come for events at the UN level.

"We agree that there is no consensus on the terminology regarding disinformation. Some principles need to be agreed upon. All this requires not only the participation of the media, governments, civil society and international organizations. Perhaps the UN or other organizations can become a platform of this kind. We are waiting opinions of professionals within the framework of this and subsequent panels on these and other issues,” he added.
