Sadraddin Soltan: ‘Politics is the highest profession’

Head of the Middle East Research Center, political commentator Sadraddin Soltan emphasized the importance of political science in a meeting with students of Report Media School.

“Politics is the highest profession because it is reflected in all fields. There is no area where politics does not intervene,” he said.

Report informs that Sadraddin Soltan also talked about the current situation in Iran, the national culture, and language issues.

“South Azerbaijanis also contributed to the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The people of South Azerbaijan revolted for their national rights many times. The Sattarkhan movement was based on the rule of law and constitutional monarchy. In 1920, Sheikh Mohammad Khiyabani established a state named Azadistan. The state collapsed after six months. The Peshawari-led movement started in the 1940s. The national government and program of Azerbaijan were declared on December 12, 1945. This movement was suppressed in 1946. The last movement started during the 1979 revolution. Its spiritual leader was Ayatollah Mohammad Kazim Shariatmadari,” Soltan said.

The political commentator also commented on the current riots in Iran:

“Riots in Iran do not happen all of a sudden. Demonstrations in any region of the world are all planned. Actions in Iran are also planned and managed.”

Sadraddin Soltan (Ismayilov) was born in Bilasuvar in 1962. He studied at Azerbaijan Agrarian University in 1985-1990 and Western University in 1995-97. He started working for Yeni Musavat newspaper in 1989.

In 1993-1994, he worked as a political commentator at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran, from 1998 to 2001 he worked at the newspaper Yeni Musavat, as a commentator on South Azerbaijan issues in Radio Azadlig, a reporter and commentator in the newspapers Cumhuriyat, Rating, Gunaydin, Elchi, Parallel, Country. During 2001-2008, he worked as a foreign policy commentator, diaspora and news correspondent in Ayna and Zerkalo newspapers, and as a reporter and editor in Elchi newspaper in 2008-2012. In 2012-2014, he worked as a commentator on the Lent.az portal.

Since 2014, Sadraddin Soltan has been working as a political commentator at Report Information Agency.
