The Finnish Air Force are starting the large-scale autumn exercises Ruska 22 (Golden Autumn in Finnish) with the participation of the Swedish military, Report informs referring to TASS.
The exercises, in which all units of the Finnish Air Force will take part, will be held October 3-8. Some 3,700 servicemen will be involved in them, including 2,400 reservists.
The maneuvers will involve 50 aircraft, most of them F/A-18 Hornet fighters, as well as Hawk trainers and transport aircraft.
In addition, units of the Swedish Air Force and their JAS 39 Gripen fighters from Saab will take part in the exercise. The equipment will be based at eight airfields throughout Suomi.
The exercise plan includes both low-altitude flights and supersonic flights above 10 km.
