Informing society is one of the main ways to combat disinformation. In this regard, people in Uzbekistan should know more about Azerbaijan, and vice versa, chairman of the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan, Ismat Sattarov, said during a panel discussion on "Searching for truth in the digital age: combating disinformation" at the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Media Forum in Tashkent, according to Report's representative attending the event.
"Ten years ago, we knew almost nothing about each other. Today, the situation is changing, and this is primarily due to the relationships between the leaders of our countries," said Sattarov. He noted that close ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan contribute to bringing the two nations closer together.
In turn, Nigar Huseynova, head of the international relations department at the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized that as their international authority grows, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are increasingly facing disinformation attacks.
The goal of these attacks is to mislead society and pollute the information space, she said.
Huseynova also emphasized that Baku and Tashkent have significant potential for further expanding cooperation and increasing the number of joint projects, including in the field of combating disinformation.
