Floods in Nigeria claimed 662 lives in 2022 and forced 2.4 million people to flee their homes, Report informs via TASS.
"The floods of 2022 were the most devastating in the history of Nigeria. According to our data, 662 people were killed and 3,174 people were injured. The number of people displaced was 2.4 million," Mustafa Ahmed, director of the State Emergency Management Agency, said.
The natural disasters destroyed thousands of houses, several critical government facilities, arable land and pastures were flooded. Restoration work is still ongoing, Ahmed added.
