The death toll from torrential rains in central China's Henan Province has risen to 71, Report informs, citing TASS.

The day before, 69 people were reported dead, while five missed. Over the past day, rescuers have found the bodies of two more victims after record-breaking rainfall flooded underground railway tunnels in China, leaving passengers trapped in rising waters. Earlier, the authorities reported that as a result of the flooding of the train, 12 people were killed, five more were injured.

As of July 27, 13.32 million residents suffered damage from floods to varying degrees. More than 1 million hectares of agricultural land were affected.

As the authorities reported earlier, floods destroyed 10 thousand buildings, severely damaged more than 22 thousand. The direct economic damage to the province from the floods exceeded 13.9 billion yuan (about 2.15 billion US dollars).
