Ankara strongly condemns the attack on the Koran and the Turkish flag in Denmark, Report informs, citing the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"We condemn in the strongest terms the abhorrent attack on the Holy Quran and our glorious flag yesterday afternoon in Denmark. We do not agree in any way that this heinous act of hate crime was allowed in the name of freedom of expressing opinions," the statement said.
The publication also emphasizes that this act, committed in the month of Ramadan, once again demonstrated that Islamophobia, discrimination and xenophobia have reached alarming levels in Europe and that no lessons have been learned from the past.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also called on the Danish authorities to "take the necessary measures against the perpetrators of this hate crime and concrete measures to prevent such provocations."
