US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, the State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a press readout, Report informs.
The secretary and foreign minister discussed the need to end the war in Gaza and bring all the hostages home.
“The Secretary emphasized the importance of ensuring humanitarian assistance reaches all those in need in Lebanon and Gaza. The Secretary noted the United States’ ongoing efforts to reach a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon that allows civilians to return safely to their homes,” the readouts said.
Blinken reiterated that the United States strongly supports UNSG Personal Envoy Staffan de Mistura as he intensifies efforts to advance UN negotiations leading to a mutually acceptable political solution for Western Sahara without further delay.
“The Secretary thanked the Foreign Minister for Algeria’s crucial voice in working to achieve a more stable and prosperous region, and the Secretary and Foreign Minister agreed to continue their close coordination,” the State Department spokesperson said.
