China's FM urges Japan to take concrete actions to improve ties

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi and a senior Japanese official have reportedly agreed to continue communication and work to bring bilateral relations back on track to sound and stable development.

China's Foreign Ministry said this in a statement after a meeting between Wang and the secretary general of Japan's National Security Secretariat, Akiba Takeo, in Beijing, Report informs, citing NHK.

Issues discussed in the talks include the release of treated and diluted water from Japan's troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific.

The ministry said Wang explained China's position and concerns over the discharge of what it called "nuclear-contaminated water," as well as "Taiwan, history and other areas."

The ministry also said Japan should demonstrate its stance of hoping to improve bilateral relations by taking concrete actions as soon as possible.
