Vaccination against coronavirus with a Chinese jab manufactured by Sinovac has begun in the Philippines, according to the country’s Healthcare Ministry, Report informs, referring to TASS.
Head of the Philippine General Hospital, Gerardo Legaspi, was the first to receive the vaccine. Meanwhile, Health Minister Francisco Duque, who launched the vaccination campaign, thanked the health workers who will inoculate the population.
"The success of the vaccine distribution depends on the health workers," he said.
The first shipment of 600,000 doses of CoronaVac was delivered to the Philippines on Feb.28. Meanwhile, the delivery of more than 500,000 doses of vaccine from the British-Swedish consortium AstraZeneca, scheduled for Mar. 1, has been postponed for a week.
