US: Daily COVID-19 cases surpass 45 thousand

Over 45 thousand have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in 50 US states over the past 24 hours, more than a thousand people died, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the US confirmed 45, 966 new coronavirus cases over the past day, resulting in 1, 116  deaths. 

So far, 5 869 032 people have contracted COVID-19 in the United States, while death toll exceeds 180 thousand. More than 2 million infected people have recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic
