Estonia eyes terminating public procurement contracts with Russian companies

Estonia, as part of EU sanctions, intends to terminate the public procurement agreements concluded with Russian companies by October 10, Minister of Public Administration of Estonia Riina Solman said, Report informs referring to foreign media.

In 2015–2021, Estonian companies entered into 44 supply contracts with Russian companies.

Solman explained that amendments to the public procurement law, approved amid EU sanctions, came into force this week.

"If an already concluded agreement violates the sanctions established on April 9 and is valid until October 10, it can be executed. Agreements that expire after October 10 must be terminated by this date at the latest," she said.

She noted that it is forbidden to conclude public procurement contracts or execute already concluded contracts signed with citizens, enterprises, institutions and other legal entities from Russia.
