European Council appoints new European Commission

The European Council today appointed by written procedure the European Commission for the period from December 1, 2024 to October 31, 2029, the EC said in a statement, Report informs.

“The President of the Commission will be Ursula Von Der Leyen (Germany) and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy will be Kaja Kallas (Estonia), who will also be one of the Vice-Presidents of the Commission pursuant to Article 18(4) of the Treaty on European Union (TEU),” reads the statement.
