The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an intergovernmental organization that combats money laundering and terrorist financing, has added four countries - Algeria, Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, and Lebanon - to its so-called "grey list." This list comprises jurisdictions that are subject to increased monitoring by the organization.
according to Report, the decision was made during the FATF's plenary meetings, which took place from October 21 to 25 in Paris, France.
Meanwhile, Russia's membership in the FATF remains suspended. On a positive note, Senegal was removed from the grey list.
The grey list now includes 24 jurisdictions: Algeria, Angola, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Vietnam, Venezuela, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Cameroon, Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Monaco, Namibia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, the Philippines, Croatia, and South Africa.
The FATF also maintained its "black list," which includes North Korea, Iran, and Myanmar.
