Several thousand supporters of the Fridays For Future climate movement, mostly schoolchildren and students, rally in Rome on Friday, two days before Italy's parliamentary elections.

Report informs citing TASS that at 10:30 local time, a column of people, accompanied by police, started moving from Republic Square towards Imperial Forums Avenue. The participants of the demonstration are chanting: "If the situation does not change, the struggle will be serious."

"The previous government did not take climate issues seriously, from the new one we expect that the needs of citizens, the ecological transition will be at the center of its agenda. The authorities should seriously address climate issues," said a spokesman for Fridays For Future Italia.

Representatives of trade unions also take part in the large-scale rally. The demonstration proceeds without incident. Similar actions take place on Friday in about 70 Italian cities.
