Health issues might be only reason to withdraw from 2024 Presidential race, Biden says

Health issues could become the only reason to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election, US President Joe Biden said in an interview with CBS Evening News, Report informs referring to The New Voice of Ukraine.

His statement came amid recent wave of criticizm and calls to drop out the race following his weak performance at the debates on June 28.

“If I were to have any health problems, if doctors came to me and said, ‘You have serious medical issue,’ then I would consider stepping down,” Biden remarked.

Biden also addressed his shift in stance from being a "transitional candidate," a term he used in the previous election cycle.

“When I first ran, you might remember, I said I will be a transitional candidate,” he explained to interviewer Ed Gordon.

“I thought I could step aside and pass the baton to someone else. But I didn’t anticipate things becoming so, so, so separated.”
