India records lowest daily COVID-19 incidence since early April

India registered 127,510 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past day, Report informs, citing the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of those infected during the entire epidemic reached 28,175,044 in the South Asian country.

Meanwhile, 2,795 people lost their lives due to COVID-related health problems, which brought India’s all-time coronavirus death toll to 331,895.

The number of new cases over the past day was the lowest since April 8, when the ministry reported 126,789 cases. India has shown a steady decline in the daily incidence in the past two weeks. From April 22 to May 17, the number of infected in India exceeded 300,000 per day; in May this figure exceeded the 400,000 milestone five times, the highest increase was on May 7 with 414,188 infected.

The latest number of deaths from COVID-19 decreased to less than 3,000 for the first time since April 26, when the country reported 2,771 deaths. In May, the daily mortality exceeded 4,000 a whopping 12 times in the country.
