The Italian authorities are preparing to send more troops to countries bordering Ukraine, as well as provide Kyiv with weapons to fight drones, jamming radars and systems to protect against possible attacks on infrastructure, Report informs referring to the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
In the coming weeks, more than 600 soldiers will go to Hungary and Romania. Sending electronic systems to Ukraine to intercept messages and radio signals is not excluded. The details will be included in a document to be approved by the Council of Ministers in the coming days.
Despite protests from the governing coalition’s 5 Star Movement and the League party, the government guarantees further shipments of heavy weapons, the paper said. The new documents will not be approved in parliament, as the legislature has already approved the decision to send weapons to Ukraine with a small number of parliamentarians who voted against. Based on this decision, interdepartmental decrees were issued, which determined the list of materials. Their list is classified.
A decree approved on March 1, later converted into law, will allow additional deliveries of mortars, machine guns, Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems, anti-tank weapons, helmets and body armor, as well as heavier weapons to the Ukrainian authorities until September 30, Corriere della Sera reports.
