Jen Psaki announces new restrictions against Russia

Jen Psaki, press secretary for US President Joe Biden, has announced new restrictions on Moscow at a briefing, Report informs.

She said that in the near future, information should be expected from Washington on the introduction of new measures against Russia.

“As the President said last night, certainly the Russians will be held accountable for the actions that they have taken. We’ll have more on that soon,” Psaki said.

“They’re going to pay a price, as the President conveyed last night. We are not going to look the other way, as we saw a bit over the last four years, and we will continue to press them on their actions,” she stressed.

“He [President Joe Biden] also repeated a story that he told in his own book about a conversation he had with President Putin. And as was the case - as was evident in the readout we provided of the call the President had with President Putin, he does not hold back on his concerns about what we see as malign and problematic actions, whether it is engagement in the 2020 intervention - in the 2020 Election interference; a report, obviously, released just yesterday - their involvement in the poisoning of Aleksey Navalny; ongoing reviews that are related to bounties on troops; and, of course, the SolarWinds hack,” she added.

On March 17, the US announced new trade sanctions against Russia. New trade sanctions will affect exports related to national security. Until Sept. 1, 2021, there are exceptions: in particular, for items related to aviation, space and items for encryption and software technologies.
