Jordan will reopen the Jaber border crossing near Syria's Nassib checkpoint on September 29, Jordanian Foreign Minister Mazen Farayah said in a statement, Report informs via Anadolu News Agency.

Ramsa (Al-Jumruk al-Kadim) and Nasib (Jaber), the main border crossings between the two countries, closed on July 31 due to the clashes in the southern Syrian city of Deraa, will reopen on September 29. Necessary security and health measures have been taken to ensure trade and tourism mobility.

Although the Nasib-Jabir crossing was reopened in mid-August 2018, it was closed twice in 2020, first due to the coronavirus pandemic and in July due to the clashes in Deraa.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with the Assad regime's Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in New York, where he was for the 76th United Nations General Assembly meeting. Four ministers from the Assad regime visited Jordan on September 27.
