LA: Armenians attacking Turks arrested, police seek another

A radical member of the Armenian community who attacked a Turkish restaurant Cafe Istanbul in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, has been detained, Report says, citing the Beverly Hills Police Department's website.

A joint investigation with The Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Los Angeles County Probation Department, resulted in the arrest of one of the primary suspects responsible for a hate crime in the City of Beverly Hills on November 4, 2020. The suspect was arrested this morning in the City of Glendale. The Beverly Hills Police Department and the FBI began an in-depth investigation, which led to extensive follow-up and review of evidence collected at the scene.

William Stepanyan, 22 years of age of Glendale, was arrested for hate crime, robbery, burglary, and vandalism. He is currently being held at the Beverly Hills Police Department. His next court date is November 16, 2020.

The investigation revealed that 6-8 suspects committed the crime.

On the evening of November 4, radical members of the Armenian community attacked the Turkish restaurant Cafe Istanbul in Beverly Hills. According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, a group of 6-8 people made insulting remarks against Azerbaijan and Turkey during the attack, injuring restaurant owners and vandalizing the restaurant's property. The owners of the restaurant managed to escape from the criminals by running through the back door.
