Luxembourg MP Marc Angel has been elected as the new Deputy Head of the European Parliament. He replaced Eva Kaili, who was dismissed in connection with a corruption scandal in parliament, Report informs referring to TASS.
According to the results of the vote, Marc Angel was elected Vice-Speaker of the European Parliament, said the head of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, during a session in Strasbourg.
She noted that Angel received an absolute majority of votes in two rounds of voting. In the last round Angel was supported by 307 parliamentarians. The 59-year-old deputy represents a group of socialists in the European Parliament.
