Almost 750,000 people died in Italy in 2020, which is 18% more than in 2019,
According to experts, one of the reasons for the increase in mortality was the consequences of COVID-19. The pandemic has also affected the ratio of mortality and fertility. The country’s population decreased by 384,000 people, to 59.2 million. The decline is observed in all regions of the country.
Since the beginning of the pandemic last spring, more than 120,000 people out of more than 4 million infected have died in Italy from coronavirus-related health issues.
