NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday it would be dangerous to underestimate Russia and President Vladimir Putin's ambitions amid the war in Ukraine, Report informs, citing Reuters.
"They have shown a great willingness to tolerate losses and suffering," Stoltenberg told a business conference in Norway.
"We have no indication that President Putin has changed his plans and goals in Ukraine. So it's dangerous to underestimate Russia."
On January 1, in an interview with the BBC, Stoltenberg said that Russian troops were preparing to continue the offensive in Ukraine, since Russia had mobilized and replenished the ranks of the military. According to him, in this regard, Western countries need to strengthen support for Ukraine and develop a long-term plan to help Kyiv.
