The EU is working on a list of individuals who may be subject to restrictions under the ninth round of sanctions, according to the Politico newspaper.
At the same time, the development of a new package of sanctions has not yet begun, Report informs referring to TASS.
According to sources, the ninth package of sanctions may focus on a wide range of individuals. It is expected to include Russian officials, propagandists, company executives and others 'associated with the kleptocratic regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.'
According to the newspaper, EU representatives have proposed a large list of people who may fall under sanctions. Now the EC is working on it to make sure of their real connection with the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This is necessary so that the sanctions cannot be challenged in court.
Sources note that the EC has not officially started work on the ninth package of sanctions. Employees of the European Commission are only testing possible restrictions with some EU ambassadors.
