Russian troops launched an assault on the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
Report informs, citing UNIAN, that, according to Deputy Commander of the Azov Regiment Svyatoslav Palamar who spoke in a commentary to Ukrainska Pravda, Russian troops are trying to break into the plant right now.
"The whole night we were attacked with air bombs, two civilian women were killed, and now there is an assault on Azovstal," he said.
Journalist Andrey Tsaplienko also announced the beginning of the assault on Azovstal in his Telegram channel.
"Right now they are trying to break into the territory of the plant. The information is confirmed by the deputy commander of the Azov regiment. There are no more details yet," he wrote.
The evacuation of the civilian population from the shelter of the Azovstal enterprise in Mariupol began on May 1.
According to the mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko, more than 100 people were evacuated from the bomb shelters located on the territory of Azovstal.
