Supernova Airlines gets green light for first Ukraine-Europe cargo flights since war started

Ukraine’s Supernova Airlines received permission to carry out air cargo transportation international flights from and to Ukraine starting from November 1, Report informs via United24.

This marks the first time since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion that a civilian plane is granted permission to operate. Ukraine closed its entire airspace to all civil flights on February 24, 2022, due to the risk of becoming intentional or accidental military targets.

The permission was stated in the order of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine No. 789 dated October 21, 2024, with the rights being granted starting from November 1, 2024, for an unlimited period.

According to the order, Supernova Airlines LLC received the right to operate the air routes: Lviv — Prague — Lviv and Kyiv — Prague — Kyiv for regular international air transportation from/to Ukraine. With seven flights a week being planned in both directions.

Supernova Airlines is a subsidiary of Nova Global, which in turn is part of the Nova group of companies. The company was established on October 1, 2021, and received a Ukrainian operator’s certificate on January 6, 2023.

On September 18, 2024, Supernova Airline performed the first flight on its own Boeing 737-800SF aircraft under the flag of Ukraine. The flight was made between European cities.
