Afghanistan has appointed Naseer Ahmad Faiq as the country's Charge d’Affaires to the UN, replacing former Permanent Representative Ghulam Isaczai, Report informs.

“The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations in New York would like to inform that Mr. Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Minister Counsellor, has assumed the leadership of the Mission in the capacity of Charge d’Affaires,” the Mission tweeted.

“The Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the UN will continue its efforts to work closely with all Member States and UN authorities to address the ongoing dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and to ensure the fundamental human rights of all Afghans including women, girls, and ethnic minorities.

The mobilization and facilitation of humanitarian assistance and effective aid delivery to groups in vulnerable situations who are suffering from starvation and food insecurity in the freezing winter season are among the most urgent priorities that require immediate attention.

The diplomatic team at the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan will work with devotion and commitment to share the concerns and legitimate demands of our fellow citizens in all UN platforms.”
