Elite units of the Syrian army conducted an operation in the province of Deir ez-Zor. They managed to eliminate a gang of ISIS terrorists, Report states, citing SANA.
According to the agency, the militants attacked buses with military and civilians on the Palmyra — Deir ez-Zor highway for a month. The military tracked down the gang while clearing the oases of Al-Shula and Kabajib in the Badia al-Sham desert.
Five militants were killed during the operation. The military believes that terrorists enter the territory of Syria from the Al-Tanf area at the junction of Syria, Jordan, and Iraq, where there is a military base of the United States and the pro-Western coalition.
On January 3, a militant attack took place on the Salamiyah–Raqqa highway near Wadi Uzeyb. The fight with the terrorists led to the blocking of the road.
